JA Shizuoka Keizairen Tokyo Office Mr. Muramatsu commented as follows

”Due to the long rainy season and extreme heat this year, the harvesting of autumn roses has been delayed one month or less.
Therefore, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unstable supply September and October. However, Full-volume supply will start from November.

The characteristics of roses in Shizuoka Prefecture are the stable supply volume, which comes from the advantage of  joint-selection and joint-sales among all member growers under JA grower’s cooperative, and the diversity in varaiety which can cover for weddings and special retail demand.

Growers Shizuoka Prefecture keep on joining forces in one to meet various demand.
We hope you’ll be looking forward to our roses in this season.”

Halloween fair ☆ 2020

Halloween is predominantly cerebrated in the English-speaking countries. Especially in Ireland, the beginning place of Halloween, the last Monday of October is set as a holiday, and the custom of celebrating Halloween remains in the purest way.

In Japan, the Kiddy Land, the famous toy store in Harajuku, Tokyo began to sell Halloween-related products in the 1970s. And the “Hello Halloween Pumpkin Parade in Harajuku”, which the Kiddy Land planned for sales promotion in 1983, is said to be the first Halloween event in Japan, and at that time about 100 participants dressed themselves in Halloween costumes.

It became widely known in Japan because Tokyo Disneyland cerebrated Halloween in 1997 and Universal Studios Japan also held it in 2002.

Gentiana from JA Nasuno

Today we would like to offer Gentiana from JA Nasuno in Tochigi-prefecture.

We started to receive their shipment about a week later than the average year, but their Gentiana in this season is splendid. Although there are ten growers of Gentiana in JA Nasuno, we have been receiving only from three of them. Still, the amount of shipment will be increased by the end of this month.

The main variety is “Ruri Otome,” which is originally bred in Tochigi, and with those originally bred in Nasu including “Nasu no Aozora,” and other color types, they have about fifteen varieties planted. We recommend their excellent grade of Gentiana that has 80cm height and five layers of flower buds with vivid color. Please give it a try on this opportunity!

Additionally, in the same JA area, items like Spray Mum, Rose, Astilbe and Veronica are increasingly available so please consider using them too.

Thanks to its warm climate, we have been receiving products from Kumamoto-prefecture since the beginning of March, ahead of other areas in Japan. From now to April the amount and the number of their products will increase, so please consider using them for seasonal items as a decorative accent.
